Take my poll! :)
Onigiri Bento
This will be an onigiri (rice ball) bento. Onigiri is a popular and simple dish to make, it’s featured in many anime (japanese cartoons).
First you cook up some sushi rice. (Sushi rice is better than regular white rice because it is stickier and can be molded a lot easier.
While waiting for the rice to cook, grab a sheet of nori (seaweed) and set it aside.
After that, get some lettuce and set that aside as well.
Once you have all the necessary ingredients, take out a sheet of plastic wrap and lay it flat, then sprinkle some salt onto it. When the rice is done, grab a handful of it and place it in the middle of the plastic wrap. Wrap it up like so:
Mold the rice into a triangular shape and when done, remove the wrap and place nori on the bottom of the rice ball so your hands don’t stick to it when you eat it.
Make as many rice balls as you desire or as many as your bento box can fit. Once done, arrange to your liking in the bento box. Place the lettuce and onigiri into your bento box and enjoy!
Bunny Bento
This time I decided to do a short video on how to make a bunny bento! Hope you all like it!
Below is a link to YouTube:
Night Time Bento
This will be a simple and quick bento featuring the night time. Due to my bento box being small, it’s probably best to try this bento with a bigger bento box to get the fuller effect of a night time scenery.
First grab some lettuce, make sure to wash it before use.
After that get some blackberries and raspberries. Like stated before, make sure to wash them before use.
Then get a piece of white cheese, any kind will due, and cut a circle out of it like so:
After you have all of your ingredients, place the lettuce in the bento box.
After you’ve done that arrange the fruits and cheese like this:
The cheese symbolizes the moon, the blackberries are the night sky, the raspberries are flowers and the lettuce is the grass.
Now you have another healthy, sweet, and delicious bento!
Easter Bento
This bento is going to be simpler than the previous bentos because it’s only going to be one tier instead of two. The theme this time is Easter.
First, cook up a scrambled egg, whichever way you want, in a frying pan or in the microwave. CAUTION: If done in the microwave, the bowl will be very HOT.
When you’ve done that, chop the egg up into several bite size pieces and set the egg aside.
Get some white cheese and orange cheese, as well as ham or any other cold cut that you want.
Cut the white cheese into the shape of an egg, do this about two or three times.
After that, cut the others into designs of your liking and place them on top of the egg shaped cheese.
Once you’ve done that, place them into the bento box like so: (you can also put the remaining cheeses and such into the bento box also if you prefer) And grab some parsley and sprinkle it into the bento box, to give the illusion of grass.
Now you have a delicious and healthy Easter bento to eat!
Mount Fuji Bento
This is another simple bento box lunch. It’s more of a picture unlike the previous bento boxes I’ve made.
First, cook some white rice. I prefer to use a rice cooker, but you can boil the rice in a pot too if you don’t have a rice cooker.
Then, grab some ham, cheddar American cheese, and any white cheese you want.
Next, you’ll want to cut the ham into two layers of an almost triangle shape.
Then cut a circle and small slivers out of the American cheese.
After that, cut cloud shapes and mountain snow out of the white cheese.
Then get some cut green beans and put about â…“ or half into a bowl.
Then put all of the ingredients into the bento box like so:
There you will have the sun, some grass, clouds, and Mount Fuji! Lastly, put the rest of the cut green beans into the second layer of the bento box.
Now you have a healthy Mount Fuji Bento lunch!
Usagi Ringo Bento
This is another simple bento. It consists of Usagi Ringo (rabbit shaped apple slices), tofu, pineapple, and celery.
Firstly, get yourself an apple, make sure you wash your hands along with the apple before you begin. After washing the apple, slice the apple into eight pieces.
After that, gently cut a V-shape skin deep into the apple. This is where forming the ears starts.
Then you life the peel up with a kitchen knife from the back of the apple to the front of the V and cut out the V part of the skin.
Do this eight more times or for as many apple slices as you have or want. Here is your family of rabbits!
Setting the apple-rabbits aside, grab some tofu. I prefer to use organic tofu, but any kind of tofu will do. You can get it at any asian supermarket.
Cut the tofu into tiny pieces any which way you want.
After cutting the tofu, set that aside as well and get out some celery and pineapple and cut them into small pieces. Mine are cut up already.
Once you have all the ingredients to make your Usagi Ringo bento, put them all together in the bento box.
And there you have it, another simple yet delicious bento.
Fried Rice and Udon Noodle Bento
This is going to be a simple bento, some fried rice and udon noodles.
First things first, get some white rice, any kind will do, and cook it. I prefer to use a rice cooker but boiling the rice in a pot of water will work too.
Next, you’ll want to melt butter in a skillet on medium heat.
After the butter has melted, which should be fairly quick, crack an egg and fry the egg up.
Chop the egg up and mix it around so it’s into little bite sized pieces. Once the egg is fully cooked, add the rice.
Once you add the rice, pour a little bit of teriyaki sauce and soy sauce over the rice and egg.
Once you do that, stir and mix all of the ingredients together.
Now that the rice is done, set that aside and let’s go to the noodles. Take out the udon noodles and boil a pot of water.
Once the water comes to a full boil, put the udon noodles in and cook for about 5 minutes, they don’t take long.
When the noodles are done, drain the water from the pot and poor the noodles into the bento box along with the fried rice. Arrange the positions to your liking as it depends on the bento box.
Add soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, or whatever other kind of sauce that you like to the noodles so they stay moist and do not coagulate and stick together, unless preferred that way. Once done, eat your bento now or save it for later!
This was a simple bento box recipe but still very delicious!
